Proof of God's healing hand...

On the left is a picture of my little baby girl when she was very sick...it was taken last Wednesday (the 20th) before she was moved to the PICU...she was probably running about a 102* fever and was shaking... the thing on her hand was for her IV fluids and medicine. The picture on the right was taken yesterday just before we were moved back to the peds floor after our 6 day visit to the PICU and after we had gotten rid of the fever and other stuff...the pink bear snuggly thing by her head was given to her by her friend, Katelyn, who just happens to be 6 days older than she is and she loves it...Katelyn's mom, Kim, was our Katelynne's nurse one night when she was in the PICU---they are friends from church. By the way, our "new" church friends (remember we've only been here 9 mos) have been AWESOME...we have had visitors, a yummy dinner, and lots, and lots of prayers!!!

A very sick baby

Hi all,
I am sitting here in the peds unit in the children's hospital at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A week after my last update...Katelynne came down with a urinary tract infection that had turned into an abcessed kidney and bacterial, but NOT contagious menningitis. For a couple days, we had a VERY sick baby; but thanks to the prayers of many saints, and some modern medicine, she is doing much better. There is still some kind of obstruction between her kidney and bladder that needs to be corrected, but that will be taken care of soon...KEEP ON PRAYING!!! So, Abbie has spent most of the last week at my mom and dad's home, which she has loved. Ed and I have bounced between the hospital, home, and Bojangles for him...I am mostly here, unless I am at Mom and Dad's to see Abbie and have dinner or sleeping at home. Well, I guess I will close for now...I have pics of her in the hospital, but haven't been home lon enough to download them to attach them...
P.S. I just read my last post and saw that I said I would share her measurements...she is 15 lbs. 8oz., and 25.5 in. long (a full 2 lbs. less than Abbie was at this age). Of course, we will have to see what this illness does to that....

No, I didn't forget her...

In case you were wondering, I have not forgotten about Katelynne. She is now 4 months old and continues to be the best baby ever...much better than her sister was at this age; especially when it comes to sleeping at night..she is sleeping from about 8:30-7:00 or so. :). I hope this continues as she gets older. She learned to flip from her back to her tummy when we were at the beach, but has not mastered the tummy to back flip, much to her chagrin. She gets herself flipped and then can't get back. That is what she is doing in this picture... surprisingly enough she is not crying. I also think she is teething, which should add some "fun" to our lives. We go to the doctor on Tues., so I will have her measurements then...I can't wait to be able to compare her size to Abbie...I love seeing the difference in their sizes.
P.S. We (the girls and I) went to my uncle's birthday party last weekend and saw a picture of my mom as a baby...now I know who she looks like...I will try to get the picture so you can see the striking similarity...This makes Mimi so happy.

The girls' first zoo trip

Two days after we got home from the beach, we headed north for what I called our "Northeastern Whirlwind Adventure". Our first stop was Cleveland, OH, where my dad's family lives. We took the girls to the zoo (both of their first trip...Katelynne slept and Abbie LOVED it...) with my Aunt Pam. Here are a couple pics of Abbie's fun.The first picture on the left is of Abbie feeding the seals at the zoo... we bought one of the little fish and she got to drop it down to them. She was so excited!!! The funny thing is that when she dropped it, the seal was so intent in watching her that it missed her dropping it and almost missed it altogether.

The picture on the left here is Abbie and her best friend, Daddy. They are sitting on a metal turtle thing they had at the Cleveland Zoo. It was a great day.

Beach Babes

Here is Abbie (and her cousin, Emma) at the beach in Emerald Isle, NC. They both preferred the bucket of salt water to actually getting in the ocean... My whole family--mom, dad, 4 sisters, niece and nephew, my girls and I were at the beach for a week (the husbands came as work allowed. We had a good time together.
